Fix Your Eyes on Jesus

Day 30

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

You are present in Your word, Jesus. As I turn toward these verses, prepare my heart, spirit, body, and mind. Let your presence flow from these words, through my pen, and into my heart. I love you, Jesus.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.

You heard me tell you, ‘I am going away and I will come back to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.

John 14:27-28

Jesus, I desperately need Your peace. This morning, I feel assailed on all sides, and peace seems like the last blessing I could ever experience today. I keep trying to find my way to a self-sustained peace, and it always fails me. But You give a peace that is unlike anything I can find, grasp, or manufacture myself. No amount of deep breaths, mediataions, self-care, or personal mantras can ever give the kind of peace that you offer. I need that peace today, Lord. Please give me Your everlasting peace.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

Amen.

Journaling Prompts

Jesus, sometimes I feel like I can’t catch my breath and find a moment to focus on You. I ask that You help me today to let go of…

Jesus, I can feel Your peace and presence most when…

Think of a time in your life when you felt really close to Jesus. What was your life like then? What was your relationship with Jesus like? Your prayer life? Your participation in the sacraments? Although the circumstances have probably greatly changed, how do your current prayer life, sacraments, and relationship with Jesus look now? What is one thing you could do today to move your closer to Jesus in those areas?
