Fix Your Eyes on Jesus

Day 29

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

You are present in Your word, Jesus. As I turn toward these verses, prepare my heart, spirit, body, and mind. Let your presence flow from these words, through my pen, and into my heart. I love you, Jesus.

And [behold] I am sending the promise of my Father* upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”b

The Ascension.

Then he led them [out] as far as Bethany, raised his hands, and blessed them.
As he blessed them he parted from them and was taken up to heaven.
They did him homage and then returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
and they were continually in the temple praising God.

Luke 24:49-53

Jesus, it is hard to imagine that watching You leave this earth would produce great joy. I feel a strange bittersweet melancholy when I picture You ascending into the clouds and out of sight. Maybe You just seem far away today. But they had such great joy because they had Your blessing and Your promises. I need those promises today, and I need Your presence. Be with me Jesus.
