Fix Your Eyes on Jesus
Day 25
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
You are present in Your word, Jesus. As I turn toward these verses, prepare my heart, spirit, body, and mind. Let your presence flow from these words, through my pen, and into my heart. I love you, Jesus.
Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by waves; but he was asleep.
Matthew 8:24-27
They came and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
He said to them, “Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?” Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was great calm.
The men were amazed and said, “What sort of man is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey?”
When the violence and pain of life is upon me, I am afraid. My heart knows this broken world isn’t what You intended for us all, and we cry out at the wrongness of it. In our brokenness, we cry to You, “Save us, we are perishing,” and You hear us. You save us, but long that we have the faith to not fear. You ask us to believe You and trust in Your goodness and might. Even the wind and see can obey You, so why can’t I? Jesus I believe. Forgive my unbelief.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
Journaling Prompts
When I think about… my initial response is…
When a storm threatens my peaceful seas, these verses tell me that You want my response to be…
The next time that I am afraid in the face of life’s storms, I first will remember the way You calmed the seas and the winds in my life last time when You… (think about His faithfulness and remember the way He answered you before).
